How to Program an ATA PTX4 Remote – Step-by-Step Guide

How to Program an ATA PTX4 Garage Door or Gate Remote

Need to program a new ATA PTX4 remote to your garage door or automatic gate opener? Whether you're replacing a lost remote or adding an extra remote for another family member, this guide will walk you through the programming process.

The Automatic Technology Australia (ATA) PTX4 remote can be programmed using your garage door or gate opener's control panel. If you already have a genuine, working ATA PTX4 remote, you may also be able to program an additional remote without accessing the motor's control panel.

Method 1: Programming an ATA PTX4 Remote Using the Motor's Control Panel

This is the fastest way to program your new remote to your ATA Garage or Gate Motor.

Step 1: Locate the Control Panel

Locate the receiver or control panel on your garage door or automatic gate opener.

  • Garage door openers: The programming buttons are generally located on the motor unit. You may need to remove a clear plastic cover to access them.
  • Sliding and swing gate openers: The control panel is generally located inside the motor's enclosure.

Look for a button labelled DOOR CODE or CODE OSC.

Step 2: Activate Programming Mode

On the opener's control panel, press and hold the DOOR CODE or CODE OSC button.

Keep this button pressed while completing the next step.

Step 3: Program Your New ATA PTX4 Remote

While continuing to hold the programming button on your opener:

  1. Press and hold your chosen button on the new ATA PTX4 remote for approximately 2 seconds.
  2. Release the remote button.
  3. Press and hold the same remote button again for another 2 seconds.
  4. Release the DOOR CODE or CODE OSC button on your opener.

Method 2: Programming a New ATA PTX4 Using an Existing Working Remote

If you already have a genuine ATA PTX4 remote that operates your garage door or gate, you may be able to use it to program another remote.

This method is convenient because you don't need to open the motor's control panel.

Important: This procedure requires a genuine, functioning ATA PTX4 remote with the hidden coding button. It may not work with aftermarket or replacement remotes.

Step 1: Stand Near Your Opener

Position yourself approximately 1–2 metres from your garage door or gate opener.

Have both your existing working remote and your new remote ready.

Step 2: Locate the Hidden Coding Button

On your genuine ATA PTX4 remote, there is a small coding hole located in the centre of the four remote buttons.

Using a small paperclip or needle, you can access the hidden coding button through this hole.

Step 3: Activate Remote Programming

Using your existing genuine PTX4 remote:

  1. Press the button that normally operates your garage door or gate.
  2. Using a paperclip or needle, press the hidden coding button for approximately 2 seconds.

Step 4: Program the New Remote

Within 10 seconds of activating programming mode:

  1. Press and hold the desired button on your new remote for 2 seconds.
  2. Release the button.
  3. Press and hold the same button again for another 2 seconds.
  4. Release the button.
