  1. Hi there,

Which remote would I need for MR650 garage roller door?

Can I pair with a remote from any third parties?

I am located in Melbourne. Are there shops around?

    Many thanks,
    Connor

    1. The MR650 originally used the Security+ Remotes ie C945. The Genuine replacement would be one of the newer remotes – E960, E970 or E980 but you would need to change the settings inside the remote to the older system Merlin+ System.
You can use generic remotes with these as long as they are compatible with the Merlin+ Security series.
There are plenty of places that you would be able to purchase genuine and generic remotes for this Australia Wide as this is a highly common remote. We do ship Australia-Wide.

  2. I have Merlin 3 Button Remote, it came with the house I bought, I cant remember whether its a Merlin + C945 or Merlin + 2.0 E945

All numbers from front or back are wiped. Is there any way to identify?

    1. Hi Rohit,
We can determine this from the model on the motor. Feel free to Contact Us via the website and we can help you determine the correct remote.

  3. Hi Rohit,

    I have a Merlin 230T motor using a M842 remote.

Will a CM842 remote work with this motor ?

    1. Hi Colin,
The CM842 is part of the Merlin + Security series and is not compatible with the M842 remote (Green Series). The CM842 remote is no longer produced.

      1. Hi

  4. Hi There
I have a Merlin Commander Elite MS105MYQ, would you know which third party remote would be compatible for this unit?
    Thx

    1. Hi Phung,
The MS105MYQ is the newest version of Merlin and is under a patent law, therefore there is no after market/generic remote available.
You have a variety of choices for your system however with the E960, E970, E980, E964 Remotes all working this model of motor.

  5. Hi Adrian. Would c945 work with this garage opener MS105MYQ

    1. Hi Keith,

No, the C945 is the Merlin+ remote. The EVO and MYQ range is the Merlin+2.0 range which is the E960 & E970.

      Adrian

  6. I have a Chamberlain CR550, The remote is a Type: 1A5478 and the Model is a 84335 without any letters. What do the letters AML or EML signify? Which remote suits this motor unit?

    thanks

    1. Hi Rod,
To be honest I am not sure what the AML signifies but generally the code signifies the series type. The CR550 was predominately sold via Bunnings store in Australia and I believe you can use the CHAMBERLAIN MC100AMLR UNIVERSAL REMOTE or the Merlin+ Series remotes.

  7. Hi

Can you tell me which Universal Merlin Remote will fit my garage door motor model ST50EVOB1?

    Thank you

    1. Hi Dee,

The ST50EVO used the Merlin 2.0 series. The E960 and E970 are the compatible replacements.

      Regards,

      Brea

  8. Hi Rod, we have a Merlin garage door motor with the new type slimline Merlin controllers, however we recently replaced our gate motor with a Roger’s motor unit and the installer put in a Merlin compatible remote control module to control the gate. The controller has a wire antenna that comes out of the gate motor enclosure, but triggering it is very difficult and significantly less sensitive that the Merlin garage door motor receiver which is behind a metal door!

Have you heard of this sort of issue before? Could it be the programming of the lower button was not done properly? Or that the remote controller doesn’t send the triggering signal for long enough?
    Cheers, Tom

    1. Hi Tom,
It is hard determine without being at your property as there are so many factors that can cause a lack of signal from remote to opener. The first two things I would look at if I was having these issues are
      1. Was the receiver a genuine Merlin receiver (ie 8003 or 8002 receiver).
      2. Was the receiver positioned within the hood of the current gate opener or in its own water proof box with an extended antenna.

I do not know what the Rogers motor unit is but it is likely that there is too much noise interference for the remote to get the signal to the motor triggering the open/stop/close function.
