Programming Instructions for Elsema IS600 Sliding Gate Motor

The Elsema IS600 Sliding Gate Motor is equipped with an intelligent self-learning function called i-Learn that runs during the setup process. This feature allows the motor to learn the correct parameters for smooth gate operation, ensuring optimal performance over time. Below are the programming steps and troubleshooting guide to assist in resolving common issues during the setup process.

i-Learn Programming Process:

  1. Initiating i-Learn Mode:
    • During the i-Learn process, the gate will automatically cycle through three phases:
      1. First cycle: Gate operates in slow speed.
      2. Second cycle: Gate operates in fast speed.
      3. Third cycle: Gate operates in fast speed, but the motor will slow down before the gate reaches the end.
  2. Monitoring Progress:
    • As the i-Learn process progresses, monitor the percentage completion displayed on the LCD screen. Successful learning occurs as the gate opens and closes fully through all three cycles.

Troubleshooting Guide

If any issues arise during the i-Learn process or regular operation, use the following troubleshooting guide to resolve common problems.

i-Learn Troubleshooting:

Issue: i-Learn is stuck at 14%
Remedy: Decrease M1 Slow Speed Obstruction Margin (Menu 8.3)

This will reduce sensitivity and allow the motor to continue learning.

Issue: i-Learn is stuck at 28%
Remedy: Decrease M1 Open Obstruction Margin (Menu 8.1)

Adjusting this setting will allow the motor to move past the obstruction detection phase.

Issue: Gate does not fully open or close in the 1st i-Learn cycle
Remedy: Increase M1 Slow Speed Obstruction Margin (Menu 8.3)
This will improve the motor’s ability to learn in slow-speed mode.

Issue: Gate does not fully open or close in the 2nd i-Learn cycle
Remedy: Increase M1 Open or Close Obstruction Margin (Menu 8.1 & 8.2)
Adjust these settings to allow the gate to operate fully in the faster cycle.

Issue: Limit switch failed to register, and the gate is not in the fully open or closed position
Remedy:

  • For the 1st cycle, increase M1 Slow Speed Obstruction Margin (Menu 8.3)
  • For the 2nd and 3rd cycles, increase M1 Open or Close Obstruction Margin (Menu 8.1 & 8.2).

Issue: Limit switch failed to register, and the gate is in the fully open or closed position
Remedy: The limit switch position is not correct. Ensure that the gate has not reached the physical stopper before the limit switch is activated.

Operation Troubleshooting:

Issue: Gate does not fully open or close, but the LCD says “Gate Opened” or “Gate Closed”
Remedy: Increase M1 Slow Speed Obstruction Margin (Menu 8.3) to allow for proper gate movement detection.

Issue: LCD displays “Obstruction detected” when there is no obstruction
Remedy: Increase M1 Open or Close Obstruction Margin (Menu 8.1 & 8.2) to avoid false obstruction detections.

Issue: Gate does not respond to remotes or any local trigger
Remedy: Check the LCD Input Status to ensure that no input is held active. If any input is continuously activated, the card will not respond to other commands. Reset the input or resolve the active input issue.

Issue: Pedestrian will not activate on my remote
Remedy: Pedestrian mode is set to OFF by default. Ensure that Pedestrian mode is enabled (Channel 2 – Pedestrian Access). Once it’s enabled, use Program 2 to assign a remote button to activate Pedestrian mode.

Important Notes:

  • Always ensure that the gate’s limit switches are properly installed and adjusted for accurate open and close positions.
  • Adjusting the obstruction margins correctly is critical for ensuring the motor’s safe operation and preventing issues during both i-Learn and regular operation.
  • Make sure to follow manufacturer guidelines during installation and setup for optimal results.

By following these programming instructions and troubleshooting tips, you can ensure the smooth operation of your Elsema IS600 Sliding Gate Motor. If issues persist, consult the manual or contact support for further assistance.

1 review for Elsema iS600 Sliding Gate Kit

  1. TheJoneses (verified owner)

Replaced an old unit with this stylish new one; easy to do yourself if you take the time to do it properly e.g. levelling the plate and adjusting the track all the way along to not bind or jump the pinion.
The self learning is a marvellous feature, so easy to setup and fine tune.
The screen and menu system, rather than wiring and jumpering is a greatly welcomed advancement in technology that makes programming a breeze. The only thing that caught me out was setting 7.5 to enable channel 2 for pedestrian mode, which the team at Retro Remotes assisted me with sorting out.
The 3 x quad button remotes are great and I purchased some extra single button versions for the kids, as they just need pedestrian mode.
I purchased a matching reciever so the new remotes can operate the garage door too; all quite easy to do.
The team were very helpful in going through all of the different brands and helping me to compare them.
I’d highly recommend this product and the team at Retro Remotes, thanks again all.
