Remote Programming Instructions

You can program the Merlin M230T to operate with up to 20 wireless controls, including handheld remotes, wireless keypads, or wall-mounted switches. Each control sends a high-security, code-hopping radio signal to activate the opener or its courtesy lamp. Note that once the memory is full (20 controls), adding a new control will overwrite the oldest one in memory. Here’s how to program and manage wireless controls:

Preparing to Program

1. Accessing the Learn Button:
   • Locate the opener’s Learn Button underneath the lamp cover.
   • Remove the lamp cover by turning the catch on its underside and then remove the green control panel cover to reveal the setup controls.

Programming a Remote Button to Operate the Opener

1. Initiate Learning Mode:
   • Press the Learn Button for 1–2 seconds until the courtesy lamp begins to flash slowly.
2. Program the Desired Button:
   • Press the button on your remote that you want to use to operate the opener, wait 1 second, and press the same button again.
   • The courtesy lamp will stop flashing to indicate that learning is complete.

Programming Separate Buttons to Control the Opener and Courtesy Lamp

1. Initiate Learning Mode:
   • Press the Learn Button for 1–2 seconds until the courtesy lamp begins to flash slowly.
2. Program the Opener Button:
   • Press the remote button you wish to use to operate the opener, wait 1 second, and press the same button again.
3. Program the Courtesy Lamp Button:
   • Press a different button on the remote to control the courtesy lamp, wait 1 second, and press this button again.
   • The courtesy lamp will stop flashing once both buttons are programmed successfully.

Deleting All Remote Controls from Memory

1. Clear the Memory:
   • Press and hold the Learn (or Setup) Button for 11 seconds.
   • After 6 seconds, the courtesy lamp will start to flash rapidly as a warning.
   • Continue holding the button until the courtesy lamp stops flashing to complete the memory wipe.
   • Note: Releasing the button during the warning flash period (first 6 seconds) will cancel the deletion process.

Your Merlin M230T is now ready to accept new remote programming, or to operate with freshly programmed wireless controls.
